A selection of programmes from Colchester Zoo's popular series One of Channel five Zoo Days taking you behind the scenes at Colchester Zoo. Presenter Konnie Huq introduces you to the dedicated keepers and the amazing animals they look after following their highs and lows and at the same time gaining an incredible insight into life at the zoo. Episode 1: The zoo’s Amur tiger couple Anoushka and Igor have their own special Christmas present and we meet Zola the African elephant who is carrying the hopes of the whole zoo on her shoulders. Episode 2: Colchester’s baby elephant Jambo arrives at his new home in sunny Spain. Is it love at first sight for Veri the binturong? And how will new keeper Hayley Jones rise to the challenge of her first sea lion show? Episode 3: Another new keeper has his training skills put to the test when Ed the giraffe urgently needs medicine. And Zoo Director Anthony Tropeano is concerned about the future of the tiger cubs. Episode 4: All is not well at the tiger house with mum-to-be Anoushka whilst at the African Paddock white rhinos Emily and Cynthia give the team the run-around. Episode 5: It’s crunch time at the tiger house as we discover the fate of the tiger cubs. Keeper Richard Hazelgrove gives us an ant’s-eye-view of their leaf cutting world and Malaika the baboon gets lippy! Episode 6: Zoo Director Anthony looks to the future for Zola, the elephant with the troubled past. Animal trainer Jez Smith has to play his part in training Rajang the orang-utan. And it’s Hayley’s first public display in charge of the sea lions.
