Here at Colchester Zoo we are always looking at ways to develop fun, exciting and interactive areas for our visitors to enjoy and we’re excited to announce we have a very BIG development underway – it’ll have your feet off of the ground!

The new development does mean that as of the 1st April our Wild Displays arena will be closing to make way for this NEW visitor experience. Soon after, work will start on the ground, which will bring new heights in a fun and adventurous way that the whole family can enjoy.

This new addition to Colchester Zoo is hoped to be open in Easter 2020 and will allow visitors to challenge themselves as they climb on three levels of high ropes on the adventure course, which includes curved zip wires, plank walks and much more! The course will comprise a junior course too for our little visitors to explore.

We will also be adding new visitor facilities, including a new toilet building.

Whilst this work takes place, we do thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Don’t worry! You’ll still be able to meet some of the animals from the previous Wild Displays at various meet and greets at Sensation Station. More information on these encounters will be released in due course.

Nb: Subject to planning permission

Please note, our last Wild Displays encounter will take place on Sunday 31st March 2019.
