Our Chimpanzee Lookout was redeveloped in 2018, 2 million pounds was spent allowing us to expand the chimps outside area, giving them amazing new heights to reach. We also added high ropes, swing structures and drumming panels which have been designed to stimulate a range of behaviours including play with is important for our younger chimps.

We have a large group of Chimpanzees, each individual with totally different facial features and behavioural characteristics, therefore they can be told apart quite easily. We currently have two male and three female Chimpanzees.

The chimpanzee lookout is also home to our African slender-snouted crocodile, who also had her enclosure redeveloped. Our crocodile has a more spacious enclosure with a large pool as well as a heated outdoor area.

Our African slender-snouted crocodile has been reported to be rather shy and timid. Despite being a remarkably swimmer, they can often we found resting on the banks of the water. They are also known to be able to climb as high as several meters onto fallen trees, which is only been found in this crocodilian species.
