Introduction to the Department

As part of our Maintenance Team, you will be responsible ensuring that guests using our facilities experience the highest level of quality and service. Reporting to management, you will be responsible for maintaining various electrical appliances around the Zoo including lighting, security and data systems.

Role Responsibilities

  • Report to the Building Services Manager and Zoo Manager
  • Carry out a range of manual jobs around the park as requested by your line manager
  • Installation of power systems; lighting; security and data systems in all buildings
  • Check electrical systems to ensure they are all working efficiently and safely
  • Carry out PAT testing and maintain a record of results
  • Carry out electrical testing certificates
  • Attend emergency call outs for power failures around the park
  • Install and maintain special effects and light installations around the park for events e.g. Halloween and Christmas

Role Requirements

  • Minimum City and Guilds 2365-02 or equivalent
  • Punctual, hard-working and able to use own initiative
  • A highly motivated individual with excellent Grounds Maintenance skills
  • Time management
  • Excellent and clear communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance
  • Maintenance of records relating to tasks performed, timesheets, materials, vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with the public, and colleagues
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment
  • Experience within industry desirable
  • Full training will be provided

Working Hours

The position is full time, working 5 days per week. You will be expected to work during school holidays and be ‘on call’ some weekends and bank holidays.
