Join in with our FANG-TASTIC themed activities taking place from 22nd October – 30th October 2022!

This October half term, enjoy a week filled with SPOOK-TACULAR daytime activities suitable for children of all ages. Let your little one transform into a scary witch or creepy zombie at our Face Painting Station or create wands and potions with the good witches and wizards at the Craft Coven. Our range of FANG-TASTIC activities will keep the family entertained all day long and you can even take home your own hand picked pumpkin at our Pumpkin Patch.


Our Shriek Week Timetable:

Take part in the hunt for monsters with our zoo trail. Search for the hidden monsters around the zoo and complete your trail leaflet.
School Education Centre (old Discovery Centre, located behind Iguana Forest)

Have your face painted like a scary witch, or maybe a creepy zombie!

Small charge applies.
Next to Heart of the Amazon (near our Sealion pool)

Join the good witches and wizards in the Craft Coven to create your own wands and potions.

Suggested donation of £2.00
Next to Elephant Kingdom

Pick your own pumpkin and create a carved masterpiece in the pumpkin carving area! Either take your pumpkin home with you or donate it to the animals to enjoy as part of their enrichment.

Train Station next to Tiger Taiga

Enjoy a trip around the lake and enjoy a spooky story along the way!
PLEASE NOTE the train will not be stopping at the lemur walkthrough.
Stage next to Penguini’s Restaurant

Show off your best Halloween outfit at our fang-tastic party! You never know, you may WIN a prize for best-dressed!

Please note, in poor weather, this event will move to the Kalahari Theatre.
Kalahari Theatre

Watch our glow-in-the-dark show with music and dancing for all to enjoy!
Opposite Meerkat Hangout

Take a pit stop and enjoy some fiendish fun and gruesome games!
Picnic area by Penguini’s Restaurant

Have your picture taken at our creepy photo point and purchase it as a fun souvenir!

Important Information:

Colchester Zoo’s car park is free of charge and staff will be on hand to direct you. Please be aware that due to the number of visitors for these events queuing may be necessary on arrival and on leaving the park so please do factor this in to your time in the zoo.
