Roadworks – Expect Delays
Please also be aware that road improvements on the B1022 (Maldon Road) outside Colchester Zoo’s main entrance/exit have been scheduled by Essex Highways to begin on Monday 21st January 2019. We expect that this work may cause some delays on entering Colchester Zoo in particular on weekends so please bear this in mind when planning your journey to the zoo. The work taking place is to create a right hand turning into the zoo to assist with traffic flow following the increase in local traffic.
For more information on the work taking place please visit the Essex Highways website or contact them directly.
Our ticket office is now located in the car park and entry into the park is via our new admissions building. If you already have tickets for entry please go straight to our admissions building and scan your tickets at the gates. Our staff will be on hand to help and guide you, please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff who are always happy to help. Read more here about our new admissions building.

The Pygmy hippos will still be visible in their indoor area whilst the works takes place. It is expected that the work will take approximately 2-3 weeks and whilst the work is taking place there will be minor disruptions in the Kingdom of the Wild building including no access to Vulture Valley.
