In January a Fiji banded iguana was transferred here from Germany and we are delighted that he has settled nicely into his new home.

We are excited to welcome this endangered reptile to Colchester Zoo in the hope that we may join the breeding program for this species in the future.
The Fiji banded iguana is spectacularly beautiful.

The males have an emerald-green body, with vertical blue and light green stripes on their bodies and a long tail. They can grow up to 80cm, with their tail making up more than two thirds of their total body length, which they use for balance as they climb amongst branches.

With so much to see and do Colchester Zoo is a great place to visit all year round!
