Our team at Colchester Zoo have been working hard in recent weeks to enhance our Nature Area as we head into Spring!
The team have put a number of new bird boxes in place in the surrounding trees to encourage local birds to nest and have also recently installed camera traps to see what wildlife may be visiting this area!
In the past we have had sightings of foxes, deer, badgers and small rodents but the camera traps has recently picked up some night time footage of an otter near one of our lower streams! This is very exciting news and means that we have managed to create an environment which is habitable for these amazing animals. We hope to see more of them over the coming weeks and months!
As well as encouraging more wildlife on the Nature Area we have also installed screens into our hut so visitors can see what is taking place throughout the day on some of the cameras hidden around the area!
