Colchester Zoo WINs not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 Essex Mum 2020 Awards!
Following the difficult year, we have all had and with the closure of Colchester Zoo, your support in these awards means so much to us.
For the 7th year in a row we have been lucky enough to be voted as the winner of the Best Day Out: Outdoors award! PLUS winner of the Best Halloween Event for our Shriek Week activities for the 5th year in a row, as well as being crowned winner of the Best Christmas Event for our Magic of Christmas festivities for the 3rd consecutive year! We never take these awards for granted, it means a great deal to us to receive these awards so thank you very much for voting.
Although 2020 has seen many of our events unable to take place, we are pleased that so many of you have still chosen to vote for the zoo and that for the first time ever we have also been awarded the Best Product for Families award with the Colchester Zoo Annual Gold Pass! This is a title which means so much to us as we continue to work hard to create a great day out for all the family despite the many challenges, we have all had to face and adapt to.
Despite the Zoo’s closure 2020 has seen a baby boom as we welcomed cheetah cubs, a rhino calf, various primate babies, an aardvark pup, reptile hatchlings and more! Of course, times have also been tough with the zoo closing and with no income we asked our loyal visitors for their support, receiving so many generous donations to help towards the zoos survival. We also received many kind well wishes over recent months which really helped to keep up the morale of the team on those very dark days. Without you, our loyal supporters, the zoo would not survive, and we cannot thank you all enough.
