Turning Story into Spirit
A week after we shared the release of our first and official Christmas advert, a second video has now been shared showcasing the behind-the-scenes of how Deadline Communications produced the magical advert. The advert first dropped on 17th November at 4pm and has since received over a third of a million views in the first 4 days and shared by local celebrities, including Sheridan Smith and James Lock.

The advert features a young girl who finds her ‘Tiger Spirit’ at Colchester Zoo and was based around the history of the Zoo, looking at one individual in particular, Sasha the White Tiger. Although we no longer house White Tigers, Sasha played a huge part in our history and helped to raise over £45,000 for big cat conservation around the world.
The Christmas advert was created with Essex-based production company, Deadline Communications, along with other members of the local community, including Absolute Arts, singer and songwriter, Katy for Kings, South Essex College, and First Essex Buses who were pleased to feature their commemorative Colchester Zoo bus.

We were delighted to have singer and songwriter, Katy for Kings, record a special song for the Christmas advert called, ‘There’s a Sound’. The single has since been released and downloaded over 1,000 times being available on all major music platforms. On Sunday 26th November, Katy, will be performing ‘There’s a Sound’ live on the Main Stage at Colchester Zoo at 12 midday. This special performance will be taking place during our ever-popular Magic of Christmas festivities which run every weekend through to Christmas and every day from the 16th December to 24th December 2023.
