Pricing Policy Amendment – from 29th October 2018

Please be aware that our Guest with Disability and Assistant pricing policy will be changing in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

From 29th October 2018 we will no longer offer discounted admission to Guests with disability and their assistants. Instead, any Guest with disability will be required to purchase the relevant adult, child or senior admission ticket. Colchester Zoo will then admit an assistant FREE of charge, upon request and verification of disability at the admission desk.

Purchasing admission tickets on the day of your visit:
If you require an assistant on the day of your visit please ensure you ask a member of staff upon purchasing your admission tickets. You will be required to show verification of disability in order to receive a FREE entry for an assistant.

Visiting with E-tickets:
An assistant ticket cannot be purchased online as an E-ticket from the 29th October, instead we would kindly ask that you let staff at our entry gates know that you require an assistant, they will ask to see your valid E-ticket and verification of disability before issuing a FREE assistant ticket.

Visiting with a Zoo Pass:
Guests with a disability purchasing a Zoo Pass from the 29th October will be required to pay the relevant pass price (adult/child/senior), if you require an assistant to visit with you please show your valid Zoo Pass as well as verification of disability at the time of entering in order to be issued with an assistant ticket FREE of charge. Please be aware that verification of disability will be required each time you wish to visit with an assistant if you do not request this at the point of purchasing your Zoo Pass.

Acceptable verification of disability:
Verification could be in the form of a blue badge, a letter from a recognised authority, a Nimbus Card, or a bank statement confirming the customer is in receipt of PIP. These options must be supported by photo ID. Please note that Max Cards are not accepted. Once verification has been received, an assistant ticket will be processed and the assistant will be able to enter FREE of charge with the Guest with disability.

Blue Badges:
If you plan to show your blue badge at the entrance, the blue badge will need to be taken back to the car afterwards to authenticate your parking in a disabled parking bay. Please note that limited Guest with Disability car park spaces are available and are on a first come first served basis.

Visits prior to the 29th October:
If you have purchased E-tickets including a Disabled guest & assistant E-ticket to visit us before the 29th October 2018 these are still valid and can be used as normal by presenting them at our main entrance. Zoo Passes which include an assistant admission can also continue to be used until the renewal date of your Zoo Pass when any new passes purchased will change to our new pricing structure.

Please be aware that if you require free entry for an assistant this must be asked for at the time of purchase or upon entry with E-tickets/Zoo Passes, NO REFUNDS can be issued after this point.
