Colchester Zoo saddened to announce the passing of Sasha the Burmese Python
Late January, keepers noticed a decline in Sasha’s health. After a full veterinary examination, Sasha was diagnosed with kidney problems and sadly there was nothing we could do to help her. On 1st February 2023, taking in to consideration welfare grounds and veterinary advice, the kindest decision for Sasha was to sadly put her to sleep.
Sasha was a much loved character that will be sadly missed by many. We will no longer hold this species in our collection at Colchester Zoo but our Green Anaconda will take up residence in Sasha’s previous habitat at Wilds of Asia. In the future, plans will be made for the Anacondas’ previous home.
