Colchester’s Zoo Aardvark Burrow is currently home to one Aardvark. The habitat includes a private off-show birthing area for expectant mothers whilst the outdoor area provides an excellent digging space.

Our team of keeper’s import termite porridge for our aardvarks who can eat up to 50,000 insects each night! They collect these using their sticky tongue that it can extend up to 30cm!

Aardvarks are nocturnal and spend most of their day sleeping.
