Back to Animals

Our Lion Rock enclosure has just finished being redeveloped. It houses our three African lions, 1 male, 2 females. We have built a new behind the scenes area for our lion keepers to assist with the husbandry care for this amazing species. We also have installed a heated cave for those chilly days. There is a new interactive zone that our visitors can learn how our keepers look after our lions with an interactive screen.

Lions are the most sociable of all big cats, with only the male having a mane and females being the main hunters.

Lions are the largest mammalian predators in Africa; they hunt large prey such as Wildebeest, Zebra and Buffalo.
