This walkthrough exhibit houses the amazing Victoria crowned pigeon and our new inhabitants, the Crested wood partridge.
Visitors can journey through the walkthrough, with the chance to see the birds up close and enjoy the vibrant colours of these beautiful birds. The location for this exhibit is next to our Cherry-crowned mangabeys – just around the corner from the bottom viewing area for ‘Bears of the Rising Sun’.

Feathers of the Forest is another self-sufficient enclosure with a bio-mass boiler, contributing to our green zoo!

The main image shows our new species in this area, the Crested wood partridge, with the male’s shocking crest on the top of its head, from which they get their name. The Victoria crowned pigeon has a very delicate feathered ‘crown’ on top of their head, which is why they are named after Queen Victoria.
